EVERYMAN A LEADER, Learning from the 20% by Adedotun Olumide

Last week on the everyman a leader series, we considered the Pareto principle together, Pareto principle the 80/20 rule, actually there are several things to learn from the principle we learnt last week.

The individualistic approach
Mr Pareto observed that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by the 20% few citizens of Italy; I suggest that the few 20% developed capacities in themselves that make them excellent enough to own the most of Italy. I presume that the 20% did something differently from the rest of the Italians.
looking at the present times that we are in, we will discover the same peculiarities happen in the world of business, sports, politics, public speaking, information technology, Journalism and the in all the whole sectors of world economy.

Bill Gates, Carlos Slim and Warren Buffet to mention a few have dominated the rich list and the investment world for years now, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have won the world best footballer between them in the past 8 years dominating the game of football, Facebook Mark Zukenberg have remained at the forefront of the social media for the past 10 years.
What makes this people exceptionally different?
There are pastors and there are pastors, teachers and there are teachers, politicians and there are politicians, Accountants and there are Accountants, Governors and Governors.

Take note, what makes you exceptional is the ability to outlive time and contribute indelibly.
The degree of your level of influence is a revelation of who you are.

But first
God pre-exist life, our source is in God and in him alone. If you are a Christian, excellent and if you are not, I admonish you to be one. Our source is from God and we must put him as the first personality important to making our vision a fulfilled one. Many have failed putting God behind them in their pursuits in life.

Basic questions
What have God called you to do? What is he saying to you? What has he naturally gifted you to do? What has he put in you as your natural drive? This questions are important because it will be foolish if we are caught with the wind and forget him who pre-exist the world and created us with unique gifts to dominate the world. Our source of wisdom is in God and he alone is our adequacy.
That settled

“Go to the ant, ye sluggard, consider her ways and be wise… proverbs 6:6
Considering her ways
Having understand what we are divinely wired for, we need to learn well enough to discover capacities for the assignment, learning from those who have gone ahead of us. It is is necessary to tailor our lives excellently in like manner as those who have done excellently well ahead of us.

Note however
It is necessary to note, that although we learn from mentors, we do not follow them blindly, knowing that our purposes may not be exactly the same thing.
We should also understand, that we are not learning the vices of some of this people because the good outlives the bad, truth outlives a lie.

Thirdly, we must maintain a positive outlook to live, in studying the lives of this great men, picking out values that are peculiar to you and your goals.
“And these things that happened are examples for us. These examples should stop us from wanting evil things like those people did. 1 Corinthians 10:6 ERV
These people have gone ahead of us so that we may learn from them, in case we notice a certain issues that was wrong and causes them much in their lives, it is to learn from them. We learn every way possible (observation, research, communication etc.)
You don’t start preparing for war on the war day
It is only by learning intelligently from the mannerism of this great people that we can avoid certain avoidable problems they did not avoid, learn doggedness from where they learnt doggedness and so on.

Next week on everyman a leader series would cover certain virtues of this wonderful people.

God bless
Shalom!
