Her Silent Tears || @emmyofgod, @ajoke_adesanya

The Lady could not help it as the memories kept flooding in like a tap without control. Like the  Red Sea that swallowed the Egyptians, the memories tried to envelope her again. This happens most days when she just allows herself to think about her past.

She had not planned to allow herself spiral down the path of self pity today but she had been bored and so she decided to entertain herself by looking through her  memories-packed album but the first picture she saw changed her mood. It was the picture she took when she celebrated her ninth birthday. She was nine but life had painted her blue and black already. It was her birthday but she was not smiling, not even the assorted drinks and toys displayed beside the cake pushed her chin up. Abdul also stood there beside her absentee parents who were only around on weekends. Abdul was much taller and older. He was twenty.

Her parents had made the damnable and life-damaging mistake of employing him as her caretaker and babysitter, what a joke that turned out to be! As big as the house was, only weekends seemed to bring life to it. During the week, she barely saw her parents because of their ‘tight schedules’. Abdul was the father and mother to her, he bathed her, dressed her, took her to school and even cooked for her. He was her confidant. All these responsibilities had been bestowed on him because he acted and looked so responsible, according to her parents.
At this juncture down memory lane, she couldn’t stop the tears from coursing down her make-up free face as she held the picture. Two days before her ninth birthday, She had just watched her favourite cartoon series when he called her to the dining table. After the meal, Abdul assisted her in completing her homework and by 9pm she was ready to go to bed. He followed her this time, unlike before; Of course, She didn’t mind because it was Abdul.

Next thing she knew, He started touching her in many places. She could still vividly see the movement in his tousers in her mind’s eye. She felt uncomfortable and so she resisted but He held her more. She shouted for help but the noise of the generator limited your wailings to the door. He forced his way into her and the bedsheet became blood coated. She cried all night as the pains down there persisted.  Before he left the room that night, he threathend to kill her if she mentioned a word to her parents and she believed him because he looked so mean at that moment. This assault went on for a whole year. She still constantly looks at shadows around corners in fear of more sexual torture.

Now, the Lady is 25 and yet no one knows what she had been through, not even Ade her boyfriend. She is getting married soon yet the thought of sex scares her to death. She closed the album still confused and afraid.

How will she deal with this?

Shakara Sunday Displays Ep.007

Paul was in front of me coming out of church today, and the pastor was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside.
      The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"
       My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
      He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

I hope you're not in the secret service. Lolz. It's just about time to showcase a selected few adorable selfies of the massive wonderful soldiers of God's Army. The glamour continues, the Sunday paparazzi won't stop, the church fashion remains glorious.
In grand styles, enjoy the fashion statements of Shakara Sunday Ep.007...

You Won’t Try to Intimidate Them

The Word For Today‎
‘You did not receive a spirit…to fear, but…of sonship.’
Romans 8:15 NIV (1984 Edition)
Joseph’s brothers ‘were…stunned with surprise. “Come over here,” he said. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother whom you sold into Egypt! But don’t be angry with yourselves that you did this to me, for God did it!”’ (Genesis 45:3-5 TLB).

You’ll notice that Joseph didn’t react the way we so often do when someone hurts us. He didn’t:
1) distance his brothers;
2) enjoy watching them squirm;
3) practise one-upmanship;
4) gloat and say ‘gotcha!’;
5) remind them of how they’d put him down and despised his dreams;
6) demand they acknowledge that he was right and they were wrong;
7) say, ‘I told you so!’ No, Joseph wanted to be loved, not feared. He wanted restoration, not revenge. He knew that the long-term benefits of healing a relationship far outweighed any short-term satisfaction you get from retaliation. He understood that it’s only by releasing your offender that you set yourself free.

The Bible says, ‘You did not receive a spirit…to fear, but…the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”’ The word ‘Abba’ is a term of endearment which means ‘Daddy’. God doesn’t bring up your past, or keep you at arm’s length because of your failures. He wants you to know you can come to Him at any time, know that you’re accepted, feel secure in His presence, and call Him ‘Daddy’.

And that’s the kind of love He wants you to show to others – a love that doesn’t want them to feel afraid in your presence.‎

Through Christ, You Can Conquer Your Habit

The Word For Today‎
'...let God transform you...by changing the way you think.' Romans 12:2 NLT

Let’s say you’re trying to lose weight, but you love doughnuts. How can you overcome temptation? By repeating, ‘I must not eat doughnuts, I must not eat doughnuts, I must not eat doughnuts’? No, the more you think about doughnuts, the more you’re going to want them. Instead you must focus on something else (or someone else—Jesus!) who can help you overcome the temptation. Your problem is not in the doughnut shop, it’s in your mind. That’s where victory is won or lost. Paul writes: ‘Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’ (Romans 12:1–2 NLT)

You can lock yourself up in a room and still think about doughnuts. On the other hand, you can get your mind on Jesus, draw strength from Him, and drive victoriously past every doughnut shop in town. The same principle applies to any habit you want to break and any sin you want to conquer. Does victory come easily or overnight? No, Satan tempted Jesus repeatedly in the wilderness, and he’ll keep tempting you until he realises his strategies no longer work. ‘Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.’ (Matthew 4:11 NKJV)

 Through Christ, you can conquer your habit.‎

Holy_Spirit-Single_Cover-_3000_pixel

Los Angeles, CA (November 6, 2015) - - Worship leader and recording artist Nia Allen releases new single "Holy Spirit". This beautiful worship song - written by Bryan and Katie Torwalt of Jesus Culture - offers a cross-cultural and cross-denominational appeal that worship leaders and churches are already singing across the country and around the world. Nia recently ministered this powerful song on TBN's Praise the Lord program hosted by Jason Crabb, a forum she is no stranger to. "Holy Spirit" is available now via iTunes and other digital outlets.
"Holy Spirit" is one of Nia Allen's favorite worship songs and it comes as no surprise that she would choose it as the first single of her latest project. She describes the song as an invitation for the Holy Spirit to come and dwell. The meaningful and moving words sung by this experienced worship leader is sure to draw listeners deeper into the presence of the Lord.
Nia Allen has a long history as a worship leader and recording artist. She has recorded two projects "A New Thing" and "Here Am I," and has served as a worship leader for the National Worship Leader Conference & CeCe Winans Always Sisters Forever Brothers Youth Conference. She has traveled with the Women of Faith tour from 2007 to 2009, and was invited back in 2015 for their "Farewell Tour," featuring persons like Sandi Patty and Sarah Jakes- Roberts. She has also appeared in various media outlets from television to magazine and provided background vocals for artists like CeCe Winans, Rascal Flatts, Martha Munizzi and Nicole C. Mullen.
When Nia is not on tour she is working on her Doctorate of Ministry at Azusa Pacific University, where she is concentrating on spiritual formation and worship. She is also writing songs and recording music as she prepares for a live worship album in 2016.

latoria-i-need-more-500

LaToria drops a music video for her latest single, "I Need More (Soul Cry)", produced by Giangelo Power. Video shot and directed by Eshon Burgundy
"I Need More was a song that came as a surprise to even me. The producer contacted me when I was at a point where I thought the album was complete and I wasn't going to add anything else to it. However the Holy Spirit led me to not only listen to the producer's tracks but hear the concept for this song. I couldn't shake it. It was clear that I was supposed to write to this song and include it at the end of the album. It is the perfect ending but also the perfect segue to The Long Walk Vol 2. The song is my interpretation of what the soul goes through. Firstly addressing someone who may not have put their trust in Christ and secondly to those of us who have. Regardless of what side of the fence you land on, we all have one thing in common, we need more of God. Our hearts have an eternal size hole in them that only He can fill. This song is meant to point us all to Christ. To look to him to get that fulfillment", shares LaToria.

Your Quiet Time with God (1)

The Word For Today‎

‘Seek first the kingdom of God.’
Matthew 6:33 NKJV

Jesus said, ‘Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.’ What kind of ‘things’ was He talking about? Things like money, houses, relationships, health, and jobs. What did He mean by ‘the kingdom of God’? Living under the rule of Christ each moment and submitting to His will in all things. When Jesus used the word ‘seek’, He called for three things:
1) Intentionality. When something important is lost, you must put aside other things and seek until you find it.

2) Importance. Position, performance, prosperity, and popularity can be good things when properly used. But without the rule of Christ in your life, you’ll always be vulnerable to the devil.

3) Importunity. No matter how long it takes, how hard you must work, or what you must rearrange, restore your quiet time with God to its rightful place. The psalmist wrote, ‘When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek”’ (Psalm 27:8 NKJV).

‘Quiet time’ has been called many things throughout the history of the Church: morning watch, daily devotions, appointment with God, or personal devotional time. It really doesn’t matter what you call it, as long as you have it regularly. Your quiet time with God is just daily fellowship with Him through His Word and prayer. It’s a time you deliberately set aside to meet with Him. The goal is that you might grow in your personal relationship with God so that you can know Him, love Him, serve Him, and become more like Him.‎
