OUR POSITION ON LATE REGISTRATION-OAU STUDENTS' UNION

Great Ife!
Sequel to our stand on the late
registration syndrome as earlier stated in our
releases on Friday, 11th & Sunday 16th
respectively, the position of the union still
remains that no students should pay. The late
registration cannot stand since the session
calendar is ipso facto suspended based on the
closure order by the senate.
Great Ife, it will be disheartening if at the mere
threat of late registration you are paying, what
about the many sacrifices many of us have
been making? Time, strength, resources, risk of
life, threat of rustication, etc! At least, late
registration would not affect your studentship
unlike us that our studentship is at stake! If we
are not shivering, why should you! Note that
every additional payment you make is an
additional frustration to the struggle.

Be assured that the date will be extended as
many efforts are being put in place. In fact,
senate would have to approve a new calendar
entirely for the session which will surely include
late registration. This is due process & normal
procedure.

Currently we have written the management on
the opening of discussion on the whole issues &
also requested, as a Union, formally that late
registration be extended. Staff unions are also
copied. Stakeholders, staff unions, our legal
counsel and other contacts within and outside
are also intervening because they align with our
position.
Pls disregard the rumour that union officers
have paid or the message being circulated &
purportedly emanating from the union asking
you to pay. All these are mere distractions and
blackmails.

It is high time you started seeking
and relying on the information from your duly
elected union leadership, other than from mere
attention-seekers, distractors and
propagandists.
Honourables, HEC members, leaders of fac/
depts/religious bodies/ other associations and
others who truly believe in the struggle.
