Soul's Voyage By Ademuyiwa James
I died yesterday
I was killed because I was saying the truth with my spoken words
The men that justified my case were men that do not know
Who would crucify their case too
I was sentenced to be killed by explosion
On the day I was to die, I saw battalion of hypocritic minds
Holding a single RPG missile
I heard the landing of the missile in my bossom like the sound of dying democracy
I was scattered like the spread of rumour of corruption
That has no one to gather them to be justified!
Now, I'm dead, only my soul remains
Soul, you shall be going on a voyage of less probability of returning
But, go! Go soul, soul go!
Soul go! Go to homes and tell them the lies
That, responsibility is only meant for men and women are to enjoy till they stupor to death
Tell them that, love is not the thread that holds the family
Tell them parents are to kill the dreams of their children with lessons of unconscious immorality
Remember to tell them these lies that, children should not be helped with their future
But, to believe in the wealth of thier mothers and fathers
Wait! Just tell them to forget posterity in their present prosperity
Just tell them, that the growth of a nation doesn't start from home
But, by becoming agents of opprobium when myopic leaders are chosen
Soul! Go! Tell them the lies! Go Soul! Soul Go!
Soul go! Go to religious homes and villages
Tell them about the sweetness in their holy lies
To continue washing the outer layer of the cup and neglect the inner
Inform them of their success at building schools for the poor children
Go soul! Go whisper into their ears that chameleon living was the life of christ
Even holy killings was all Mohammed did while he was alive
Tell their leaders to keep flying in private crafts
While congregation suffer from poverty called witch crafts
Soul, won't you go and tell them to do more of money making sermons
And neglect all that deal with salvation for wealth and riches seminars
Soul Go! Go tell them the lies! Go Soul! Go!
Soul! Go to the parliaments, go tell them the lies also
Tell them the seats are for butchers and hoodlums
That governance is meant for scavengers who feed on masses' blood
Tell them justice should be fair when corruption is at its peak
And Jungle justice for those found stealing spoons at the market places
Tell them, democracy is for them, by them and them alone
Remember to ring in their ears that majority are smiling at homes
And minorities are suffering on the seats of power so, go!
Soul! Won't you go to them that promised twenty years ago that we were leaders of tomorrow?
Go tell them that the tomorrow is yet to come, they should persist in their promises while they remain leaders in our today
Tell them education system is fascinating even the graves are willing to come back
Go tell them of the hiccups in the system that makes it firm to be emulated by developed worlds
Just tell them of the job providers that they are producing and job seekers they keep at schools failing, tell them is the best
Forget not to praise them for the yearly reductions in tuition fees
And the growing standard of education, are all works of humanity
Go! Soul go and tell them the lies. Soul Go!
Soul, won't you go to them who called the best legacy sin?
Go tell them about their effort of making none of the kidnapped girls feral
Tell them we shall live to see them come back and bear children
Children that will have blood as their breakfast and flesh as their dinner
Soul go! Go to them the saviours, tell them none of their promises
Were lies that can turn graves, tell them we hope on them like the skies
Just tell them, we know their feelings are like it was thier children that were kidnapped. Just go!
Wait! I heard you grumble of death, you are scared of being a victim
Let me ask you soul! If you do not go, who else will do?
Oh! You mumbled the youths of today?
Then, you'll be forgetting they've sold their future for a bag of rice
Scrambbled their tomorrow with a token from various lootings
Did I hear you say the elders?
I shall tell you of their great decisions too if you are ignorant
They've been mentally crippled with the token the politicians gave them years ago
They've kept quiet and suffer daily in regrets that they are yet to wake up to fight
They've also pledged to bring up their simbling with the mudded mentality
So, if that's all your excuses, then you have none!
Go and never return but, if there be chances to choose in the after life
Choose the path filled with gold on its streets
Do not go the ways of destruction that would make you excel in hell
Soul go! Go soul! And never return!
